The aim of this article? To tell you something concrete about our experience as exhibitors at a trade show. Today, we’re going to talk about successes, tips, spin-offs, opportunities and priorities as booth participants.
When you’re a presenter or exhibitor at a trade show, it makes sense to offer quality sponsorship activations to maximize impact. A sponsorship activation is an activity that enables the organizer to push the sponsor further, to make them physically and truly present at an event. It’s more than a logo on a poster! This is where the role of an event agency comes into play: to design effective activations. The aim is to put the brand into action, so that participants remember it!
If we had to give you one piece of advice for designing a good activation, it would be: break the codes and think outside the box! And that’s exactly what we did with our popcorn survey and creative brainstorming workshop at the Salon Expérience Les Affaires. We succeeded in asking an attractive question that appealed to participants. Indeed, with our word-puzzle question “Which irritant pops into your head”, participants were able to express their main irritant in the event industry. With around 75% of responses, we realized that scenography is no picnic! On the other hand, like Lulu événements, participants appreciate creativity! It’s only an irritant for around 30% of people! In the end, thanks to this, we were able to stand out from the crowd, imparting new knowledge to participants and sparking discussion among attendees. It just goes to show that you don’t necessarily have to do something very complicated to get people to like it.
The key is to be creative and original in the way you present things.
Let’s talk a little about our on-stage experiences. At the show, we had the pleasure of speaking with two of our long-standing suppliers: Bajouk Signature and Studio Artefact. It was an opportunity for us to highlight the added value of professional collaboration and to reiterate the fact that we’d be nothing without our suppliers.
To prepare a good presentation, we advise you to rewrite your text by hand and rehearse it to make it your own. It’s important to make the text your own, so that you can get to grips with the relationship with the person you’re speaking to. Secondly, you need to find a way to connect with your audience.
To avoid any feelings of stress, it’s essential to rehearse your text face-to-face, accompanied by the person you’ll be working with. Getting to know your partner is the best way to avoid any apprehension. It may sound obvious when you put it like that, but these are the steps we often neglect and forget to prioritize! For example, in order to be as comfortable as possible, Mona Menassa, our production manager, scheduled rehearsals in real-life conditions a few days before D-day, to familiarize herself with her partners, but also with her environment.
In the case of our presentation with Bajouk Signature, boxes containing two chocolates were handed out during the presentation. Inside, a note said to share them with someone you found elegant. This got the audience involved, and encouraged exchanges between spectators. It may sound simple, but it had a real impact! Indeed, people opened the box, discovered the message, and approached their neighbors with a smile or a kind word!
As for our presentation with Studio Artéfact on creative collaboration, the focus was on a lively, humorous exchange between Mirella and Guillaume. In order to avoid basic PowerPoint presentations, we wanted to create a link with the audience by interacting with them, asking questions and involving them in our presentation. This engaged the audience and got them active! As we went along, everyone felt more at ease!
Our participation as an exhibitor at a trade show, enriched by the presence of a remarkable booth designed by Studio Artéfact, also opened the door to numerous opportunities. The most important of these was undoubtedly the excellent visibility we enjoyed throughout the event. Indeed, taking on the role of principal partner of the Salon Expérience Les Affaires, while having a dedicated space on the premises, not only benefited our team, but also all our suppliers. It was a unique opportunity to raise our profile and broaden our audience.
What’s more, our stand wasn’t just one of many: it stood out from the crowd and captured their attention. This originality piqued the curiosity of many, prompting them to immortalize the moment with photos, thus helping to raise the profile of our suppliers. And there’s nothing we like better!
This enriching experience has also taught us several lessons for future shows. First and foremost, we’ve learned the importance of pushing creativity to the limit, going beyond the norm and constantly striving to achieve something new. Whether it’s a booth, a presentation or a sponsorship activation, we firmly believe that this approach is a winning recipe. Secondly, presence at a trade show can be a real mark of the importance of professional collaboration. It confirms that collaboration is always a strength. Indeed, this show was an opportunity to demonstrate that it is possible for two distinct entities in the events world to help and support each other. Just because we’re competitors doesn’t mean we can’t chat and collaborate in good spirits and a healthy environment. It’s essential that we encourage each other to take part in these kinds of events, despite the competition.
In the end, exhibiting at a trade show allowed us to meet lots of new people! As you know, at Lulu, meeting new people is what drives us. What’s more, we were lucky enough to have a major impact in terms of new customers, and to expand our network in this wonderful sector of activity known as events management. We’re leaving happier than ever!
We were also pleased to note the presence of a large number of participants at the speeches given by our founder, Mirella Di Blasio, on the various stages throughout the day. It’s always a pleasure to be able to exchange ideas in real life, laugh, chat and enjoy!
What’s more, it was the first time since the pandemic that all the people involved in events were actually able to get together and celebrate! It really warmed our hearts to be there and to be able to share our passion with all the humans present!
See you at the next show,
Audaciously yours
